Rudd tells Relix, “It was more different than any video I’ve done before, to be in the middle of the city on a mission to draw folks out. Rudd’s next album reflects this approach and today we premiere the official video for “Come People” from Nanna (due out on March 17 via Nettwerk Records and now available for pre-order ). The new group draws on a collection of international musicians and reflects a broad global palette of music. Environmental work, activism, veganism, spiritualism, surfing, family camping trips in the bush and dog walks on the beach everything Rudd does, he pours into song. I’m literally just singing about the things that are going on around me, he says of his sublime and soaring indie-folk. His 2010 album, Koonyum Sun, was recorded with his new band Izintaba, featuring the South African rhythm section of bassist Tio Moloantoa and percussionist.
When Xavier Rudd takes to the road in late April, it will not be as a solo act but rather as leader of Xavier Rudd & The United Nations. For Xavier Rudd, writing music and living his life are one and the same.
